翻斗式雨量计是一款耐用的仪器，用于监测降雨率和总降雨量。通过增加内漏斗来均匀雨水流入量计，从而提高了在高降雨率下的准确性。只需稍加维护，即可提供多年的服务。雨量计由高强度抗紫外线塑料/不锈钢制成。翻斗传感器机构激活一个密封的簧片开关，该开关在每0.1毫米、0.2毫米或0.5毫米的降雨量时产生一个触点闭合。雨量计传感器可以安装在杆上或固定在水平板上。
